Someone on the opposing side of the argument is against the idea of The Pigman being taught at schools. They might say "The Pigman is inappropriate for children. It encourages kids to drink and party and that their parents are always the bad guys." Respectfully, I would respond by not only repeating the important lessons stated above, but also kindly proving them wrong. The children in the story do drink and party. But, if you really look into the story, as teachers guide students to do, the second theme that I stated is hidden under the behavior John and Lorraine. The students reading the story will learn that what John and Lorraine are doing is what they shouldn't be doing.
