The NFL Versus The Brain Throughout the United States the issue with children most prominently found is childhood obesity and the terrifying results of poor eating and exercise habits. Thanks to recent scientific studies the results of playing football, especially in the NFL, has shown the damage caused by head-to-head contact resulting in multiple concussions and even CTE, or Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. This all starts in peewee or pop warner football throughout the United States. These very young athletes are at a significantly higher rate to experience long term trauma and the plethora of effects from CTE. As for the viability of directly linking participation in pop warner football and the chance of having CTE in their life. It's plausible to link head trauma to subsequent damage to the brain itself in a nutshell. People are starting to take notice of the concerns of football in adults and younger generations alike. As for why concussions and CTE are being used to attribute a decline in Pop Warner is a chain of events that trickle down into youth football. It starts with the recent findings within the football field, a study done by Boston University found that 95.6% of deceased athletes from the NFL were found to have CTE (Breech). It is reasonable to infer that the athletes CTE is slightly contributed to their involvement in the NFL as a result of multiple head to head contact throughout their career that led to many reported and even more unreported concussions.
