The legalization of Medical Marijuana is a controversial issue throughout our country, as 29 states have legalized it (State Marijuana Laws in 2017 Map). There are many effects that Medical Marijuana can have on a person. Because of this, it causes people to argue about whether it is a miracle drug or not. Individuals in our society claim that Medical Marijuana should not be legalized because it can get you high, and it creates an addiction. A medical references on WebMD states that “Higher THC levels and increased usage could increase the likelihood of physical dependence” (WebMD). This puts individuals at risk who need to use Medical Marijuana, but do not want to rely on it for the rest of their lives. While some people agree with this, others believe that Medical Marijuana should not be legalized due to the fact that “the FDA still hasn't approved it as a treatment because there haven't been enough studies to prove that it's safe and effective”

Medical Marijuana is proven to have lower THC levels depending on what you using it for. According to Medical Marijuana dispensary it says, “With cannabis, there is no single ratio, or strain or concentrate that’s right for everyone. Each single person’s sensitivity to THC is a key factor in determining the appropriate ratio and dosage for effective usage” (Zamnesia). With this statement you can see that this argument is irrelevant. This proves that Medical Marijuana is made differently for every person, so the THC and the high effect depends on what you are treating for. As you can see in the picture above the different amounts of THC is used for different things such as relieving pain. Arguing that the high effects can cause you to become addicted is irrelevant because it has been proven that it all depends on what you are being treated
