Screeech, the sound your car makes as you slam on the brakes because the person in front of you is driving recklessly. You decide to pass them, and as you drive by you notice how they were on their cell phone. Typical. Driving while using a handheld cell phone should be illegal because so many people have died due to it, and there are so many other alternatives. As a high schooler we get told ALL the time, don't text and drive. Typically, for teenagers, the reason they are using their phone while driving is because they are texting. This is a message that has been pounded into our heads. In Driver's Ed we watch multiple videos about teenagers that crash their car and become serverly injured/dead due to texting while driving. You can see that through the Temperance Movement, where alcohol was prohibited, or even the gay rights movement, where the controversial issue of gay marriage was addressed in each state. Whether you agree with the law of not, it's being implemented for the better of the state as a whole, and eventually the whole country. When the use of alcohol became prohibited it was with the intention that the country would become better. There would be less abuse going on in households, husbands would not spend all their wages on drinking, and families would get along better. Though there are some benefits of alcohol, like how there is some use with using a cell phone while driving, the cons outweigh the pros. Driving while using a handheld cell phone is dangerous, and has caused so much pain and suffering to multiple families throughout the world. No one wants to apologize about crashing their car and killing someone simply because they were checking a text message. A cell phone should not be the reason why a family gets torn apart. So, I agree with the states that have made it illegal to drive while using a handheld cellphone, because I don't want to ruin
