Urgent Care reported that “Approximately 22 percent of the U.S. adult population meets the minimum requirement of physical activity” (“Long Term Effects of Not Exercising”). As a result, this means the other seventy-eight percent of America’s adult population does not even meet the minimal exercise requirement, so what exactly causes someone to skip their daily exercise routine? This question has aroused much controversy, such as debates on the importance of exercise. People have answered by saying people do not have access to proper exercising equipment or just do not have the energy. Many people overlook the importance of exercising by valuing their conscience, comfort, or time more and although these things have their own importance, exercising should also have its own place in everyone’s lives, and the lack of it could eventually lead to destructive effects.

Negative repercussions of not exercising include diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and premature death. By not creating a schedule to stick with, people can easily become overweight, causing one’s heart to work harder and puts one at risk for serious health complications. The World Health Organization estimates that “3.2 million people worldwide die of complications from physical inactivity” (“Long Term Effects of Not Exercising”). Many people who do not exercise on a daily basis; do not persevere through a little pain; and those who believe they can spend their time better spent elsewhere act as victims of these terrible effects. Exercise options can range from taking a simple stroll to swimming ten, difficult laps. Whatever the exercise one decides to tackle, make it a habit and stick to it to avoid the detrimental effects of not
