The Holocaust was a genocide in which around six million European Jews were killed by Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany. They were killed in many torturous ways in which mankind today would not tolerate such a thing. This was a horrific experience for the Jews. During this time they were with the hope that one day the Russians would go and liberate them. Although that wasn’t possible for most of them, the Russians did help and freed a few of the captured Jews. “Jews were prohibited from leaving their residences for three days, under penalty of death.” In article 13, which states that everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state, would have been violated when Jews were prohibited from leaving their

“You will be burned! Burned to a cinder! Turned into ashes! (pg 31) Jews were taken to crematoriums to be burned and die slowly. In article 3, which states that everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person, would have been violated when the Nazi’s took them to crematoriums to burn and die. Later after the Jews were assigned to Barrack’s. Arriving at the Barrack’s there were dozens of inmates to receive them with sticks in hand. “Dozens of inmates were there to receive us, sticks in hand, striking anywhere, anyone, without reason.” In Article 12, which states that no one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to protection of the law against such interference or attacks. In the Barrack’s the Jews were ordered to take their clothes off. “The orders came: Strip! Hurry up! Raus! Hold on only to your belt and your shoes…” (pg 35) In Article 25, which states that everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, etc., would have been violated when the Nazi’s ordered the Jews to strip.
