When you hear the word marijuana, you probably are not thinking of a valuable medicine. About 5,000 years ago, cannabis was founded by the father of medicine, Emperor Shen-Nung, in China and was used since then for a variety of things like liquid extract, food preparation, and more, but in today's society marijuana has been looked at as being just another way to get high or a gateway drug. It received a bad reputation when people began using it for the effects of the chemical inside, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which affects the functions of the body, but what if it had a bigger purpose? What if it could cure or aid in cancers or other serious conditions? Today marijuana has slightly more purpose than it did years ago. It has been known for “treating nausea caused by AIDS medications and cancer treatments, intractable pain, muscle spasms, glaucoma, epilepsy, anorexia, asthma, insomnia, depression and other disorders.” says

Marijuana does not have the amount of chemicals and substances as drugs that are prescribed by doctors now. People should have the choice of a naturally grown herb or a drug made by a certain company.
Twenty-three states have decriminalized the use of marijuana for medical purposes. By doing this, they have increased annual revenue and offered people a better way of taking care of a wide variety of medical issues, like nausea, pain, and epilepsy. Maybe one day each state will decriminalize the use the medical marijuana and make it easier for people who are in need to access it.
Alcohol and other drugs affect the body functions in very similar ways, such as impaired judgement and memory problems. Also, prescription drugs get you just as high as marijuana will. So why is alcohol legal for a certain age and why are drugs so easy to get from the doctors? Yet, marijuana can not be used to help people who are suffering from serious and chronic
