The argument that it’s just not natural due to the fact that same sex couples can’t reproduce has become a non-issue, in this day and age. Just think about all the children in the world that need a loving home. Same sex couples can adopt and give these children a life, they may not otherwise have. Also, with advancement in medicine male couples can obtain a surrogate and female couples can use a sperm donor. It may not be the way the church would want it to happen, but it is still a valid, viable life not the less. Allowing these couples to marry would not only provide stability for the couples, but also for any children they may have or adopt. Who are we to say that children of same sex couples should not be afforded this feeling, as much as children of heterosexual marriages? I also feel that conservatives and opponents of same sex marriage are not looking at the health and economic benefits that it would provide. Monogamy is a big part of marriage and this would cut back on the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, especially Aids. These cut backs, would be less of a burden on our health system and economy in general. Economically married couples tend to spend more like buying homes and all that comes along with owning your own home. Many people are afraid to buy a home with someone they are just dating, but would not think twice about buying one with their spouse. Another short coming, which I feel is a big one, is survivor benefits and being able to make decisions should your partner not be able to. Preventing same sex marriage from being recognized in all states and federally denies these couples there benefits and rights. Should something happen to one of them, they deserve as much right to these benefits as anyone else. Imagine having a family and then suddenly having your spouse
