For a long period of time, schools have been debating if they should have sports or not. According to research, sports should not be allowed because it leads to academic failures. Therefore, athletics should be eliminated in schools to cut big costs, remove distractions from students and staff, repair classes that are infested with mold.
School districts know that they put a large amount of money into athletic programs. In Amanda Ripley's article she says, “New bleachers can cost up to half a million dollars, and maintaining a grass field can cost up to 20,000 dollars a year” (10). According to Superintendent Ernest Singleton , “By suspending sports, he realized, The district could save 150,000 in one year”(7). The Premont Independent District had to move to a high school because they didn't have a music teacher for years. The schools community should pay more attention to making the classrooms clean and safe for the students instead of buying materials for football games. By suspending sports, schools could have cleaner and better classrooms for teachers to teach in and for children to learn in.
It is quite bad that sports have been a big issue to schools for multiple reasons. There is no opinion that students could do better in school if sports were canceled, It would give them a better concentration rate and they would feel more safe in classrooms. Therefore, schools should now take out sports so they could spend money on other things, make classrooms tidy, and make students focus more on
