Argumentative Essay: Space Exploration After The Era Of Hope

Decent Essays
I don’t think space exploration will not ever regain the same or more public attention and interest as it did right after the “Era of Hope”. The reason why it’s because back then, traveling to the moon was more of a crazy idea rather than something it could happen. Technology was not as sophisticated, so the whole idea of an American stepping foot in the moon for the first time was outstanding, unbelievable. The fact that an American was the first man stepping foot in the moon gave great feeling of pride and honor to the whole country and motivated them to support and follow this event on big scale. Fast forward to the present, technology is so advanced that trips to the moon occur every here and there. People is too busy with the media, their

Sometimes, no matter how experienced, or prepared, an explorer may be, nature can still get the best of the explorer and lead them into a fatal error. A young adventurer named Christopher McCandless is a prime example of this statement, however, he had no experience and went into his adventure very unprepared. Christopher McCandless’s memory is kept alive by the biography, Into the Wild, written by Jon Krakauer. In Krakauer’s book, Into the Wild, he recalls the brief life of Christopher McCandless as he embarks on a great crusade to fulfill his lifelong dream of living in the Alaskan bush. A few weeks after hiking into the bush, however, McCandless was found dead in bus 142 by the Sushana River by a hunting party.…

Manifest Destiny is “the 19th-century doctrine or belief that the expansion of the US throughout the American continents was both justified and inevitable.” Which means, that even when we kicked Indians out of their own land, it was okay. It was justified, for our own selfish needs and wants. Other things were involved with Manifest Destiny, like the gold rush. January 24, 1848 was when James Wilson Marshall found flakes of gold near Coloma, California.…

After reading the book into the wild by Jon Krakauer it showed me that Chris was not crazy and the different aspects of the trip. Why would someone so wealthy drop everything to go into the wild, although he did do it for himself, but did hurt everyone around him. He hurt everyone around him by dropping them and not talking to them and leaving them to find out about his death through the ones who found him. In the documentary that his sisters and parents starred in helped out with truth of his disappearance, and showed that he didn’t have the greatest childhood which could be apart of why he did what he did. Other contributors to this might have been Emerson, he seemed to have had the same mind complexion as Chris, their minds ran the same…

The Manifest Destiny certainly had good intentions. The idea that the United States was destined for greatness and expansion beyond the current borders was a substantial idea. However, enacting these ideals quickly turned into an oppressive era for surrounding territories not seized by the united states. The United States hastily settled the dispute over Oregon with Britain, not to avoid conflict, but to deal with conflict arising in the southwest.…

Based on this evidence, I’m guessing that some people don’t know how to care for nature like others. In the text, “This may be simply because few mineral or oil deposits have ever discovered, nations will certainly be quick to begin fighting for them” pg#5. Scientist, Head NASA officials, and so many more have expressed their personal opinions on what is going to happen next, and one bit of common ground that they can all come to is that money is going to be a main issue. With the International Space Station costing around one hundred and fifty billion dollars to just build, it brings up the question, is it worth going back to space? The answer is no, but what we do need to do is begin to do research on making it possible to go to space without sending our nation into more and more debt, How do you expect to build and upkeep a moon base, that may cost billions and billions of dollars, when the country is already 18.15 trillion in debt?…

We Should Not Go Back to the Moon The first time America stepped foot on the moon was on July 20th, 1969, however, the last time Americans stepped foot on the moon is was in 1972. Charles Krauthammer, in the Washington Post, from 2009, argues the we should go back to the moon. Space Exploration Humans always had a nature of curiosity. That’s what drove Ferdinand Magellan and Juan Sebastián Elcano to circumnavigate the globe. They discovered new lands and crossed new oceans. If they weren’t allowed to go on the voyage, then our history would be too recent. Humans would still be exploring and naming lands in later centuries, if such an event were to happen.…
