Why Women Should Not Be In Combat

How would you feel if your mother was going to leave you for months or a year to go do her job? For instance your mother is in the Marines, you would probably not see her for a few months. Here is the topic of this essay. Do you think women should be in combat? As you could tell from the title, I think women should not be in combat. The first reason is pregnancy and menstruating. Pregnancy can affect the deployment of a unit. Women can end up leaving their fellow workers behind. When a woman leaves, women mostly say they want to return home because they want to spend time with their family. Nobody wants to talk about the fact that days before a woman’s cycle, she would lose half of her strength, to say nothing of the emotional ups and downs that affect their judgment.

When women are held prisoners, the enemy can torture, abuse, or rape them. Harassment would most likely become a major problem. When there is a woman who is surrounded by a large group of men and the woman is outnumbered, it can lead to sexual harassment. If one woman is assaulted, she not only loses faith in her fellow workers, but she may fear them.
Others may say that women should be in combat because the army will be stronger, but then the men will be distracted. If they get distracted they will possibly die in the battlefield. the standards are set for men not women, so if women try to reach it they might overstretch themselves. If the army gave lower standards for women, then women will have a harder time in battle than men do. Men have battle like standards but they will be lowering those standards for women. All these reasons show that women should not be in battle.Remember that feeling of you thinking of your mom leaving you for a few months or years just to do her job.Now I have said everything I wanted to.Now it’s up to you, the reader. Do you think women should be in combat or

Clemmitt also points out that despite the restrictions some women have secretly participated in ground combat, thus demonstrating that women’s role in the military is becoming more important (Clemmitt). Clemmitt’s piece gives excellent and real examples of actual women in military and their experiences and achievements that prove McGregor’s claims of women being skilled soldiers when it comes to combat. Female soldiers like Morgan and Dunwoody are not the only ones who have made remarkable achievements as women in the military, however they are among the few who have been recognized for their actions which supports that more women are capable of doing what Morgan and Dunwoody had…

“US military commanders repeatedly used women to go into battle spaces where men could not go” (Malrine par. 39). It’s understandable going into the situation thinking that you’re going to be all fist fight and one on one fighting, but when I think of the military no I think of guns and long range tactics to further protect our soldiers. I’m not sure many men would agree that men and women think alike, ladies, think back to the last time a guy said something that just made you mad but they didn’t seem to understand why you were mad. Imagine getting information from other countries. Women know how to talk to women.…

In Molly M. Ginty’s article “All Guts, No Glory”, she explores the issue of women serving in combat and the unfair reality that females have faced in the U.S. armed forces. In my opinion I strongly believe that women should be allowed to participate in combat. Many reasons why are if she signed up for this and has all the right training for it she should be allowed to go into war and fight for our country the same way men do. Women put their life at risk the same way males do getting shipped out to different countries protecting our country. In the article it says “one of the most dangerous jobs in the military today is driving a truck – a position that many women hold.”…

The women who argue to be able to serve in combat are not acknowledging the danger it puts themselves and the United States Military in. In the article,“Why Women Do Not Belong in the U.S Infantry.”, Serrano expresses that if they allowed women to serve in combat during her service in the military, anyone including herself would have jumped at the opportunity because of the novelty, excitement, and challenge; but, her views have changed with the experience and knowledge she has gained. Everyone needs to accept the fact that women are different, not only physically, but all around. It will only destroy the mission of the services (Para. 1). Also, allowing women to serve in infantry will cause enormous amounts of distractions.…

Women in combat. It has recently sparked a debate on whether women should be allowed in combat or not. In my opinion, women shouldn’t be allowed in combat because they are too emotional to handle the long periods of time of being on tour, they aren’t physically built like men, and there would be too many problems with having men and women living together. Women are way too emotional to withstand being in combat. They wouldn’t be able to handle the 100+ degree temperatures, the stress of being away from their families for long periods of time, and they wouldn’t be able to handle being shot at all the time.…

“ Women are qualified for war. They would just have to work that much harder to be able to meet that goal. They would have to carry 100 pounds on their backs and would have to be able to go across the landscape with all this gair and are known to most likely not make it. Women are often great shooters but cant carry 50-80 pounds on them and is much harder on women to carry this amount of weight even with men carry more weight” (Westernjournalism) No girl can just go to war and expect to be able to do everything the boys can do.…

In the passage “Policy: Women in combat” the author talks about reasons why women can not and should not be in combat positions. However, in the lines of these two things seemed to be blurred rather than concrete. The passage gave an example of articles that emphasize this belief. They gave the article that former senator of virginia wrote which was a clear outline of common reasons as to why women should not be in combat. Some of the reasons he listed is as follows: that the fact women can get pregnant is seen as a weakness, that physically and emotionally they are not strong enough, and finally that they would distract the soldiers from the task at hand.…

Not only for the soldiers, but also for the leaders of the nations, children, and non-military member women. Of course, soldiers have something to fear they are participating in combat, and the leaders of the government fear losing their positions. Children don’t understand war, so what child wouldn’t be afraid of dying, losing a loved one or being a teenager drafted to war. Those are all difficult things to deal with, but women have to deal with that and more. When soldiers from foreign lands arrive, women fear getting raped.…

First of all allowing woman into combat situations would make our military more effective by putting talent into sections that were frowned upon before, it would help our forces become more modernized, putting women into combat situations would not break tradition because women have served in every war since the revolutionary war, and would put ability above gender. Allowing woman into combat situations would allow our combat units to be more effective in many different ways.
