Self defense is defined as the deliberate use of physical force for protecting yourself or loved ones from physical harm (Franco). It's a subject that just about everyone considers at some point in their lives. Self defense should be allowed in school and everyday life because, it’s not illegal for you to use self defense, it could help against bullying, and people should be able to protect themselves against others who try to harm them. The first reason that they should allow self defense in schools and everyday life is, people should be able to protect themselves if someone comes up to them and tries to start a fight. In the constitution under the second amendments it states that you have the right to bear arms (Constitution). You can use deadly force, with no duty to retreat, only if you reasonably believe that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to yourself or another person, or to stop the commission of a forcible felony (Home). What is considered reasonable? Self defense expert Massad Ayoob says this: "Deadly force is justified only when undertaken to prevent imminent and otherwise unavoidable danger of death or grave bodily harm to the innocent (Avoob).” Self defense doesn’t always mean defending yourself, you can also use self defense to protect another person, place, thing, or animal. If you ever see another person getting bullied or harmed then you can use the self-defense to help that person out. For example, if one of your family members is being harmed you can protect them and not get in trouble for it if you say it’s was self-defense. In conclusion, Self defense is defined as the deliberate use of physical force for protecting yourself or loved ones from physical harm (Franco).
