"I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it" (Voltaire). Some people will disagree with decisions but all will fight for the right can still make those decisions. , will say that agree it is ok to stand up for popular belief, but it’s not ok to cause harm to others and the society by doing so. also don’t think there should be banned books because it’s just a book, and one can control what they read—don’t take it out on others.
It's ok to stand up against popular belief when standing up means it will help more people than it will hurt. Like for women's right to vote it's not really hurting anyone it's only holding people back. Standing up for something believe in can be sometimes for example black lives matter… It shouldn't be just black lives it should be all lives and if do protest in general don't burn down stores, kill people, loot stores, nor cause utter chaos.

There are a few people determining what the public can and can’t read. It’s just a waste of time… even if a book is deemed “not right for the public”, who's to say they are biased about the book. Just if someone wants to read something then let them/ If they are harmed in any way from the book, it's their fault. If they also ban a book for being inappropriate for kids, let the parents monitor it and control it. The rest of the world should not be punished for a book getting banned for a few parents complaining about their kids getting a hold of it and reading it For example, Harry Potter got banned for “persuading” kids to do witchcraft. If a parent thinks their kid is going to start making potions in the basement, don’t let them read the book. Don’t go ahead and take privileges away from everyone else. Another reason banned books are ridiculous is the right to FREEDOM of speech and FREEDOM of the

The banning and challenging of a book is typically decided by parents, school staff, and district officials. For a book to be challenged it has to be attempted to be removed or restricted. It is, again, based upon the objections or parents and school officials. Unlike a challenge a banning of a book is the removal of material that is getting challenged. Most of the time challenges and banning’s are motivated by the desire to protect the children from what people think may be inappropriate content, typically sexual or against a religion or sometimes because it promotes a certain religion.…

Often times people might see someone doing something unordinary people began to make a big deal out of it even if it does not affect them. Peter Marshall, an American television and radio personality, singer, and actor once said, “If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything.” Peter Marshall is correct in saying this because people should stand up for what they really believe in and not what the community believes. If a community is doing something bad and individuals follow and support them even if they know it is wrong then it can be damaging to the person and also to the world. If the community is doing something that an individual believes is wrong, that individual must not follow them but instead he must stand up and say that what they are doing is not right. People tend to follow big groups of people since they are usually intimidated by them, only the courageous…

Often times parents will challenge a book for its language and the violence present in the book, because they want to keep their child innocent and protected from the wrongs of the world. While it is a understandable concern, it is ridiculous considering what the average high schooler sees and hears in the halls of their school on a daily basis. Parents like this wanted to ban A…

In a few areas a great book, To Kill a Mockingbird, and many books like it are being banned. To Kill a Mockingbird is a very informative book on what life was like in the 1930’s, but it is still being banned for strong language, “strong content”, and strong cases of racism. Many schools have had kids read that book, but because of recent events a few have started to ban it. Some people believe that they can teach messages like the ones taught from this book, but in a better way, so they make it more suitable for kids to read. Some citizens feel that kids should be introduced to strong topics like this when they are in around 8th grade, which is a very common time for schools to have children/teens to read this novel in school, because kids need to be prepared for the real world early on.…

Targeted books mostly those in schools, libraries or book stores are challenged by individuals in any particular society due to kind of content illustrated in them. Generally, the content is normally categorized as immoral by the challengers who believe that the said content can pollute or adversely influence a young readers mind.…

As Oscar Wilde states, “Disobedience is a man’s greatest virtue.” People are entitled to their own original way of thinking. Human kind by nature is stubborn and willing to do anything for their own beliefs. Individuals are needed to express those ideas and broaden human exposure for the sake of everyone. For example, back when colored people when discriminated against in the 1960’s, the affected banded together and demanded change for the better.…

“Laughable, isn’t it? That we once thought so little of people that we assumed they’d be permanently damaged if they read the wrong thing?” (James T. Kaene) Both public and school libraries should not be allowed to ban books from the shelves. Banning novels from the eyes of the youth simply because they include situations and events that every person will have some kind of experience with in their lifetime is hurting the person, not protecting them.…

What exactly does banning a book solve and how will banning a book solves this “problem”? You could be reading a banned book for history in your room at this exact moment. A banned book is a book that is banned in a library, home, or even country for a reason that an official calls out. I, myself, disagree with the idea of censoring books just seeing that one or a few people disagree with the book in anyway. One person’s decision may ruin the joy for everyone.…

Fortunately, for every group pushing for bans on literature, there are organizations that fight for this freedom. One such organization is the American Civil Liberties Union. In the year 2000, when discussing the topic of book banning, the organization stated that, “Permitting restraints on literature sets the stage for attacks on all expression that is artistically or politically controversial or that portrays unpleasant realities of life” (American Civil Liberties Union). Although some books may contain graphic violence or sexual content, and therefore of course should be kept out of the hands of children, I’d like to think that these widespread en masse bans of such literature are a poor way to go about it. It’s not as if middle or high school students are incapable of understanding and comprehending dark or more adult subject matter.…

I actually had not heard, or realized how there was (is?) so much controversy and censorship either applied or attempted by persons regarding J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series of books. While searching this topic, most of those against these books are either parents who are citing religious reasons or churches themselves that are against the books because of the subject matter of witchcraft and sorcery, which is something that is against the teachings of the bible. Parents are fearful and believed that these books were encouraging children to join the occult and witchcraft rituals. “ A parent in Arab, AL asked the Board of Ed to remove the Potter books from school libraries and accelerated reading programs.…
