On one hand, statistics show that it is more common for teens to start using birth control at age 16, but statistics also show that 3.9% of students have sex before the age of 13; just enough to be considered as 1 to many. I feel like if you’re having sex before the age of 13 or even after, that you’re going to continue to have sex so as parents we should prevent teen pregnancy as well as viruses as soon as possible. Did you know in 2015, a total of 229,715 babies were born to teenagers ages 15-19? Another concern is their teen not taking the pill rather it’s on purpose or accidental or if the teens is not properly educated about sex and birth control will they think just because their on birth control it is now ok to have unprotected sex not knowing all the risk. There are many forms of birth control not only for females such as condoms, the pill/shot, emergency contraceptives and abstinence.
