Argumentative Essay: Should Teachers Have Weapons

Should Teachers Have Weapons
Should teachers have weapons is a big question. There are many answers for this problem but not one is like another. I will tell you my opinion on this topic.

Many teachers and students have died from intruders. At Sandy Hook Elementary many students and teachers died because they didn’t have any weapons like a gun for example. If the teachers were armed the scene would probably have played out differently. At TSU a college an armed intruder went into the building and killed many people. Many were also injured in the process. The intruder was eventually caught and taken to prison. But this brings up another topic; what if he was never caught.

Innocent children could die if teachers are unarmed. Innocent children

Rather, their training teaches them to act fast, so if someone’s holding a weapon they’ll target them immediately and ask questions later. This unfortunately can mean that the teacher trying to protect their students may be shot down for doing good which, again, is needlessly putting their lives at risk for…

One of the main reasons teachers should be armed is because it would prevent deaths. Donald Trump states, “If you had a teacher that was adept with the firearm, they could end the attack very quickly” (“Trump arming teachers”, para. 2). President Donald Trump is one of the most famous supporters of the theory about arming teachers, and his quote…

Because teachers are not granted the right to defend themselves and others, children and adults across the nation are left at the mercy of murderers. The Second Amendment does not apply to schools, and many people believe it is not necessary at all due to a society where “well-trained police forces provide personal security” (Malcolm, 2016, p. 4). However, the right to bear arms is incredibly important and necessary even in a police protected environment. The system of school lockdown procedures is fatally flawed, leaving students anxiously hiding under desks in dark classrooms, potentially awaiting their demise, as if their hunter is unaware of its victims’ whereabouts. Sadly, the “first ones [at the scene of a crime] are the perpetrators and their victims” (LaRosa, 2005, p. 2), not the police.…

In the state of Texas legislators are hotly debating the benefits of allowing guns on college campuses. There are already several ISD’s in Texas who are considering having armed teachers on campuses. David Thweatt who is the superintendent of Harrold ISD, “…sees his job not only as an educator, but also a protector of the 120 or so kindergarten through 12th grade students in his care”. This discussion carries on across the county today.…

Gun control has been an issue that is discussed in schools, political debates and is always a basis for anyone running for the presidential office. Should teachers and faculty be allowed to carry firearms in schools to protect the students? There are always two sides to the issue. Digging deeper on both sides of the issue and to find good clear reasoning is important in order to decide what is right, not just to agree with a political parties opinion. I plan on setting my own views aside on this as well sense…

Also do you think a student would be able to look at a teacher the same after they saw them shoot a person the kids would be tarfided. As already stated everyone is dangerous but people do not realize how dangerous they are until they have blood on their hands. This would also greatly affect their career and if the teacher moved it would be hard to get a job because this would be on their permanent record and the educational board wherever they are will not want to hire someone who is dangerous whether it is in self defence or not. Another thing is what would happen if a student where to get ahold of the gun think of how much damage they could cause with…

One topic has been ripping through America, resurfacing every couple months after another tragic event — Shootings. The type of shooting that I fear most take place where I am required to attend 5 days a week, 10 months of the year — school. The idea of teachers being allowed to have guns rattles me more. How do teachers being armed prevent school shootings? In fact, looking at recent news stories teachers having guns becomes an apparently bad idea.…

What I think... Teachers should not have guns because what if a kid got caught in a crossfire of the guns. Another reason that teachers should not carry guns is like at a high school kids if they got left in a room Unattended and the teacher the the gun in the desk and the kid knew it and the kid got ahold of the gun. Then that would end in disaster. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that what if a student had been constantly annoying and being disrespectful and the teacher finally just snapped and shot the kid, that would send the teacher to jail and the kid either to heaven or to the hospital. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that teachers are there to teach the kids not be a security guards or a babysiter.…

In an age where people are trying to take guns away from law-abiding citizens; we need our guns now more than ever. Everytime there is a mass shooting this debate pops up, yet we continue to have mass shootings. If some teachers were allowed to conceal and carry guns in schools, mass shootings would dwindle. The resource officer at the Parkland shooting never went inside and 17 children died, meanwhile, the resource officer at the Maryland school shooting engaged the shooter and saved countless lives. This illustrates the effects that a capable person with a gun can have on saving the lives of children.…

With all of the violence in schools, kids may feel uncomfortable if they see other students or teachers carrying a weapon. This could cause the kids to not feel safe and not want to attend school. Parents would express their opinions quickly. Some parents may support teachers carrying weapons and not students. Some may support neither carrying weapons, but school violence needs to…

If a student’s intent on hurting people they would know who would have a gun and how to get it. Also school officials are not the police, they have not been trained for these types of situations and can do more harm than good. The police can respond calmly than someone who is not used to being in these situations. Teachers should not be leaping in and start shooting away trying to fight the attacker, they should be trying to get the students away safely. More guns being fired is not the solution in a mass shooting and would likely bring more casualties and be harmful than intended originally.…

These teachers should go through the most intensive background check because they have the ability to hurt a lot more kids than a random person trying to shoot up a school. If the teachers can get a hold on a gun and then tell the guy with the gun that every class is packed and ready to shoot then I believe the maniac will come to his senses and get out of the school. I feel the same way about guns in the workplace. For example at my mom's shop, she was looking at the cameras and someone was breaking into a truck late at night and instead of my mom having a gun for self-defense at her work place she had to take cover as the robber shot a bullet in her direction. This is why I feel so strongly about gun rights and where you can and can't take them.…
