For centuries after centuries school has been the core focus of a human beings life. School has been around for years to teach kids and adolescents how to do certain and important subjects such as mathematics and reading/english. For as long as school has existed, school days have been the traditional 180 days with 3 months off for working on the farm or ,nowadays, going on vacations with family. But recently it has been said that certain schools want to terminate the original 180 days of school to a whole year of school. Even though there are many opinions, school should not be all year around due to parents concern, no significant changes in test results, and simply how it affects students.
The first reason why school all year around is not a good idea is due to parents concerns. Many parents have objected to school all year round, even going as far as keeping their kids home until Labor Day to make a point to the schools. Many parents have signed petitions to push against year round schooling. One parent said,”I need the 2 1/2 months where I can pull my children out of the school system, pull them away from any peer groups ...and teach them any lessons I want to them to learn, not what the Board of Education wants them to learn”(Tepe). A pro of school all year around is that you don’t get bored. Statistics show that with three months off leads to boredom and it often leads to “learning loss”. With year round school the schools give you at least 6 weeks off to relax your brain and they also have activities just incase you get bored. "Summer learning loss is a major issue for kids.
