Mel joining the jazz band would be more beneficial because he would grow as a musician and even become better in academics. I believe when a person strives to reach a lofty goal he or she can always achieve their goals. I feel that his friends should also support him in this decision as it could help them succeed as well. This Decision wouldn't just benefit him but his bandmates too.
If Mel chooses to join the Jazz band he will grow not only as a musician but his friends can grow as well. Mel doesn't have to be the only one gaining from this experience. On August 9th, 2014, Michael Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson were walking in the middle of the street when they were approached by a police officer by the name of Darren Wilson. With there being altered stories explaining what happened next rather than choosing one side of the story we can agree that an altercation occurred and it led to the unfortunate death of eighteen year old Michael Brown. Because of the differing stories and videos online, I will not focus on whether I feel like the killing of Michael Brown was justified, but whether the process to indict/or not to indict Officer Darren Wilson was justified and not flawed. Beginning as soon as you read the table of contents of the DOJ report on the Ferguson Police Department…

From middle school to high school, band became a vital part of my life. It was all I knew, it was where I felt comfortable, and this was where I pratically began learning about my leadership skills. However, my curiousity grew when I was introduced to Class Council. I thought that there was no difference, and I naively thought that since I have been a part of a leadership role for about 4 years, everyone knows me, so I thought Class Council could not be so hard. I was terribly wrong.…

In Aldous Huxley’s “Brave New World”, citizens live without individuality, intelligence, and emotions, all of which can be connected to the absence of playable music. In the real world, everyone is affected by music that they listen to or create themselves, but it is truly underestimated. People have the distinguished ability to express their individuality through the varying types of music in the world and how they react to it. Being a musician can challenge someone’s mental and physical abilities and, if they accept the challenge, can make them more intelligent and capable members of society. Music can also cater to one’s differing emotions and help them to understand their feelings and coping methods.…

In the articles “Three Cheers for the Nanny State,” “Ban the Ban!,” and “Soda’s a Problem but…”, all three authors present their arguments with facts, opinions, and counterclaims. However, one article presents itself better than the rest. I believe that the article “Soda’s a Problem, but...” was the most convincing article. Sarah Conly- the author who wrote “Three Cheers for the Nanny State”- argues that the soda restriction is a good idea because people would be stopped from making foolish decisions that they’ll pretty definitely regret.…

As the concert proceeded I realized that the music was enjoyable and easy to follow for the most part. I don’t classify myself as a very knowledgeable person about jazz, but with this experience, I can at least say that I have been to a concert and know what to expect if I ever go to one again. To anyone who really enjoys this music, I would definitely recommend going! I’m sure that every jazz concert is different, so there could be benefits such as the band or conductor being more interactive with the audience or the audience itself could create a different feeling for people attending the concert. I did enjoy the concert, especially being able to see and learn about such a great artist like Stuart Mack.…
