Argumentative Essay: Should College Be Paid?

In a perfect world, students would not have to pay for their education. They would continue their studies for the pure satisfaction of learning, and not have to worry about how much debt they’re in, or if the profession they are pursuing will allow them to be able to payback their loans in a decent amount of time. Ideally, the students would be able to hop right into their career without feeling too overwhelmed, but as we do not live in a perfect world, this is not the case, nor should it be. At first, the thought of free college sounds like a great idea, but as the idea is explored more, the flaws arise. If college was free, taxpayers would inevitably have to pay the bill, students wouldn’t gain life lessons of value and responsibility, and free college would potentially create economic consequences for those institutions …show more content…
When president Barack Obama was in office as the President of the United States, he was in favor of making colleges free for “responsible students”, but just as any statement in politics, the proposal caused a controversy in the nation.
