Death Penalty was a subject that peaked my interest and a topic I have always felt strongly in favor of. I wanted to educate myself a bit more and dive deeper into the subject by choosing it to do this paper. Currently in the United States as of November 9, 2016, thirty-one states use the death penalty. While 13 states do not use the death penalty, and four states have a gubernatorial moratoria. A gubernatorial moratoria means that “A suspension of activity or an authorized period of delay or waiting. A moratorium is sometimes agreed upon by the interested parties, or it may be authorized or imposed by operation of law. The term also is used to denote a period of time during which the law authorizes a delay in payment of debts or performance of some other legal obligation.” (Moratorium).
