Argumentative Essay: Rihanna As A Role Model

Improved Essays
Fun fact in 2008 Rihanna’s birthday was officially named Rihanna Day in her homeland. Robyn Rihanna Fenty born in Saint Michael, Barbados on February 20,1988. Her parents are Monica and Ronald Fenty she is the oldest of three. Many people view her as an iconic individual. Doing research on her made me realize she’s just like anyone of us a normal person. Whether we like it or not she does what she wants, when she wants. Rihanna is a role model for all women in my eyes. These are a few reasons why I find Rihanna to be a great role model: first, she became a star at the age of 16; second, she created the Believe Foundation; and third, she made a cosmetic brand.

Rihanna overcame issues at home by escaping in music. Just a young teen her and her friends got the chance to audition for Evan Rogers a music producer. With the help of Rogers, she was then signed with Def Jam Records. The album Music of the Sun is what made her famous at the age of sixteen. Her song “Pon de Replay” hit the top five on the billboard chart “It’s just language that we speak in Barbados. It’s broken English. Pon is on, De means the, so it’s just basically telling the DJ to put my song on the reply.” she says. After many hours in the studio working on her music she’s won six Grammy Awards.

Their goals for this foundation are: raise awareness of the impact of leukemia, aid the 10,000 people in need of a bone marrow transplant each year, help 70% of the patients who rely on strangers for a second chance, and recruit and register nearly 4,000 new bone

Americans perceive downloading music as an everyday act, but it’s actually quite a criminal action. Consequently, downloading music allows the public to listen to their favorite artist for free or for a small price. Stephen Seigel elaborates by saying, “Under the agreement, Napster will begin to charge a monthly fee for use of it’s service--$4.95 seems to be the number being tossed around-- though how the money is ultimately divvied up will surely be a source of future contention.” (“Nipping at Napster”). This statement may convince the general public that downloading music is fine because the website is now charging a fee.…
