Argumentative Essay: Renee As A Pharmacist

The final participant is 45-year-old Renee. Renee is a Pharmacist who is the mother of her only child, Patrick. Biologically, Renee is a Caucasian female of average weight. Cognitively, Renee is extremely intelligent. She graduated top of her class in high school and college. Social economically, she is wealthy. Along with Patrick who is 3, she lives with her husband who works in the oil-field. However, this wasn’t always the case. Growing up, Renee used to be in a situation very much like Juanita’s current situation which plays a big part on why she choose pharmacy for a career. While Renee has a 3-year-old and is a pharmacist, in many ways she does and does not fit into the Generativity vs. Stagnation stage. Ways she does not fit into this stage; for example, she has a 3-year-old son, while most people in her stage either have children in high school/ college or are married and have their own children. Another example is that she is extremely outgoing and travels across the country with her family. An example on how she does fit in is her career; when she helps ill patients, it gives her the “make your mark on the world” feeling that most people in this stage feel. Juanita states she remembers her parents coming home (and still do) exhausted from working long hours only for it to be repeated again the next day. As for the future, she to work in either the criminology field or medical field to help others with making a good living. Renee states that she remembers her father and grandfathers fighting in war and not having enough money to pay the bills.
