It is unjust how Rape leaves very harsh effects on the victims and the rapists never get any consequences. Rape traumatizes the victim’s body physically, mentally, and socially. Bruises and broken bones are some physical effects that follow sexual assault, also pain all around the body and bleeding from abused body parts. Even if the outside of your body does not have dramatical damage, the damage is in the victim’s mind. The mind goes in shock and starts blaming itself for letting the rapist assault him or her, even if there was little or no chance from escaping the situation. During rape, the body shuts down several body parts and activates others that help with self defence. The body will stiffen up and contract, causing bleeding and soreness the following days. Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network’s (RAINN) statistics show that in 2003, nine out of ten sexually assaulted victims were women. One in 9 females are raped when younger than 18, which is 11.1%, and for males it is 1 in 53, 1.8%. This shows that females are the main target with rape. In Nepali, there were two maids of the ages of 30 and 50 who were raped and tortured in India. The man who sexually assaulted the two women was set free with little to no consequences. In the article, the woman that was raped states that for her, everyday is terrible because she knows that the man that assaulted her is free and roaming around. Since the rapist has been released from any punishment, this makes both of the victims wonder how many more of these rapists there are all around that have not been caught yet. Even if they have been caught they are now set free where they can easily repeat the crime that they had previously done. The woman says, “It is like a nightmare for us. The only thing I want is justice and for them to be put in jail". If the men do get caught, they will be free from prison after a short amount of time.
