In fact, illegal immigrants have become a problem that, in 2010, Arizona ’s governor, Jan Brewer has signed the nation’s toughest bill on illegal immigration into law. It intended to identify, prosecute and deport all illegal immigrants. Upon the law enactment, president Obama strongly criticized it. He said the Arizona law, threatened “to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and our communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe,”(Archibold). In addition, opponents have called it a harassment and discrimination against Hispanics. Texas and 25 other states filed a lawsuit seeking to block it. They complained it is costly for the states to provide public education and uncompensated health care. Others argued that it brings legal issues and the action itself is exceeding the presidential power. Even before the executive action, deportations have reached a record level under Obama’s administration, rising to an annual average of nearly 400,000 since 2009, about 30% higher than the annual average during the Bush administration. As a result, “by a ratio of more than two-to-one (59% versus 27%), Latinos disapprove of the way the Obama administration is handling deportations of unauthorized immigrants,” described by The Pew Hispanic Center. Furthermore, along Latinos who disapprove of the Obama administration’s deportation policy, just 36% approve of the president’s overall job performance while 54% disapprove. It clearly prove that Obama’s executive action on illegal immigrant has worked well among American nor Latinos immigrants.
