I am one of your constituents and I am writing in regards to poverty and the impact it has on not only citizens in Nebraska but everyone all across the world. Poverty is a very real and very common thing that doesn’t just happen to those in third world countries. Poverty is becoming all to common. According to The U.S Census Bureau there are nearly 47 million Americans living in poverty right now.

As you are aware the state of Nebraska instituted a new minimum wage of $9.00 an hour on January 1st of this year. While this has brought increased income into the pockets of many, it still is not enough to cover the basic cost of living. According to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology the increase in minimum wage still doesn’t bring Nebraska
