Popularization of yoga in the world has also brought good faith for India. Yoga is a disciplined method for attaining a goal, and people performing yoga form a perception of India as a peaceful and disciplined country. Hence, it makes sense in spending some money on yoga day, as it helps to improve ‘Brand India’.
Also, many studies have successfully determined the effectiveness of yoga as a complementary intervention for cancer, asthma, and heart disease. Many political parties said that celebration of yoga day is utter waste of public money and is only image building for a particular political party. They just forget the fact that many people perform yoga willingly and are fully satisfied with it. They conveniently ignore the fact that Yoga might reduce the acute health problems that this country has been suffering from for years. They are not able to see the reach of such a campaign to the remotest of areas in a country which is short of doctors in huge numbers. And they fail to assess the long term benefits of this harmless and affordable science against the nominal price that we are paying for a marketing
