Technological Trend 1: Virtual Reality
• What is Virtual Reality?
The literal translation of VR would be ‘Real experience as human being’ which means Near-Reality. In other words, it is the phenomenon of creating an illusory reality in the mind of the user. (Carlin & Hoffman, 1997) The current uses start from gaming and go up to treating PTSD (posttraumatic stress disorder). (Rizzo, 2016).
• In what ways it will significantly affect ordinary lives in the future (through examples):
VR will be so common that a new employer might get trained on it. For example, a solider can train for a realistic combat situation. In education, students, especially those in medical fields, can operate realistic circumstances on VR as it’ll be physical …show more content…
Majority of mobile users utilize this item as soon as they wake up to the second they sleep. There is no doubt that cellphones will affect our lives in the next 20 years. One heavy impact by this device is on education. According to about 74% of teachers, smartphones enables them to expand and reinforce on content and motivates student to learn. In addition to that, it allows students to explore different learning styles. (Mills, 2013).
• Examples of how smartphones will affect ordinary lives in the future:
Hiley (2016) claims that “Some experts believe that in the not too distant future, mobiles will change the way we learn and teach.” She also said that camera and voice recorder are vital learning and teaching tools as majority of the students own a smartphone.
Majority of things done in-person nowadays will be done over mobile devices. Things such as banking relationships, grocery shopping, interviews, and employment. Tumminaro (2007) and ‘The Institute of Commercial Management’ pointed out that it's a quick medium for transferring money or making a payment.
It’s also a great tool for time-management as it allows the user to set events and sort out …show more content…
A new project, ‘Project Wing’, has been developing. It is a delivery system that uses Drones (self-flying vehicles). This is an incredible way to transport items as it’s quicker, safer and efficient. (Teller, Roy, & Vos, 2014) It will also reduce air pollution done by car. It might also help with traffic congestions, allowing people to get to their destinations quicker.
There is tremendous potential in drones to transform the world for the better. For example, In UK, emergency services can start using drones to help people when they're in danger. Drones can be used to monitor wild-life and save any animals if there are any potential threats. This will conserve wild-life. People can find remote areas by flying their drones and capturing or recording through the drone camera. Also for filming a scene at a height, drones would be the answer. "Earlier this year it was reported more than a quarter of the 43 police forces in England and Wales were considering using drones in high risk operations and to trace burglary suspects." (Eysenck, 2014) Drones are creating a safer environment. For marine biologists, they can monitor life under oceans to uncover secrets about the organisms and how they behave instead of diving into the ocean just to 'disturb'
