A veterans Sacrifice Throughout the history of this great country, the United States, all the veterans of all the wars and battles are the ones to thank for gaining our freedom and keeping us free. This is as true now as it ever has been. A lot of times the sacrifice the veterans make goes unnoticed and unappreciated. I would just like to say thank you.…
Often time, wars are believed and seen as a mean to defend the home nation from physical catastrophe of foreign land and soldiers are praised and honored for their sacrifice. Not often enough do the common people take the time to scrape the surface with sayings like “thank you for your time” to look at the understanding that even though a war “makes men” and unites them, Hynes says that it isolates and cuts them off from other people. We are also controlled into believing that we understand exactly how a soldier feels from what the media broadcast to us, and then we take that false understanding and channels it to a way that we think may help soldiers deal with their traumas or past. The truth that the media provide has been filtered out enough…
The question being asked of me is “Why Veterans are Important to Our Nation’s History and Future?” Veterans are important to me because I live with two of them and I have a lot of them in my family. Without them, I wouldn’t know the reason why we have people sacrificing themselves for our country. My Grandpa, Roy Noble, always said that “War is not good but fighting for our country is,” I didn’t really understand that until I realized without them we wouldn’t have a free country. Britain would have taken over and we would have a queen instead of a president, or something like that.…
Veterans play an important role in the history of our nation. Their stories tell us the horrific tales of life on the battle front. Their bravery is what helped our country maintain its liberty. Each veteran is important…
Their service has changed them, but they have served their country and most of them would do it again if they could. Veterans are the embodiment of respect and disciple. They have risked their lives to protect their friends and families. When asked the importance of veterans, I cannot help but think, “Do veterans feel that they are important?” I first thought of my grandfather, a veteran of the Vietnam War and one of the kindest people on this planet, when I was given this topic.…
Every veteran that has served or is serving has been brave and loyal. Even though some people who were drafted were scared but, they still were brave and served. I have finally started to think about the conditions that they were going through while fighting. Say that they got a terrible injury. They kept fighting because they wanted the love the people back home to be free and peaceful.…
On a rare occasion do we remember the lives of our Veterans. War doesn’t just disappear in the minds of former Veterans. It can scar them for the rest of their lives. Veterans are not just a little thing to be thrown in the back of our…
Veterans play an important role in society today and the history of not only America as a whole, but the people who live in it. They have earned us our freedom and our rights, and even continue to help even after leaving the battlefield, whether by actively playing a role in their community or going on living the lives they earned for America. Having no veterans would signify no victorious battles or even fights to begin with. The veterans that America celebrates show that America stood and still stands for values and independence. They play a key role in history- who ever read a textbook that didn’t mention ferocious warriors or soldiers conquering forgotten cities?- and create our future at the same time.…
Is the government really granting veterans the health care and resources they need in order to survive once they arrive to their home land? Do you think that maybe just maybe the government focuses way too much attention towards funding the military instead of troops that have returned with some kind of disability or mental issue? I believe that the government is making a huge mistake on how they are granting health care towards a big group of individuals who fought for our country and for them not to be able to receive the proper care is a disgrace. These veterans should be established the best of care just for the simple fact that they have fought for our freedom and have gone through tough situations, which could be death related. The government as well does not offer enough…
America's veterans have laid their life on the line in ways only they will ever know. They have survived living nightmares and are left with permanent scars. Some of these scars are easy to see, others are too deep, all are painful. They have come home to emptiness and desolation. Many come home to no home at all.…
War has been a constant part of human history. Whether it was World War I or World War II, war has greatly affected all aspects of life. Soldiers, families, countries, and societies, have all suffered through these times. Ultimately, the effects of war are extremely detrimental. Timothy Findley’s masterpiece The Wars portrays the detrimental effects of war and how these effects are endured on a personal level, familial level, and a communal level.…
On average, twenty veterans kill themselves each and every day (Shane III and Kime). Twenty men and women with lives, families, friends, and neighbors. Twenty men and women who fought for the very freedoms Americans are so accustomed to. For years, veterans have struggled to go back to a normal life away from the war. Protesting and anti-war movements made it even hard for the already damaged veterans.…
The GI Bill is a use-it-or-lose-it military benefit and expires 15 years from the day you leave active duty. In 2014, I would only have 4 years left to use the GI Bill, before the benefit would be lost to me forever. Fearing that one day I would regret not using this important benefit I decided to utilize it. Not being in school for the last 20 years, I decided I just wanted to get my foot wet first, so I decided to take the required real estate classes to be a mortgage broker. I decided to enroll in Palomar College because of its large size and reputation as a great real estate school.…
In his song "God Bless the U.S.A.," Lee Greenwood sings, "And I'm proud to be an American where at least I know I'm free. And I won't forget the men who died who gave that right to me. " These words echo the idea that countries around the world hold soldiers in high regard because they sacrifice on behalf of their countries. War is often romanticized in propaganda, and unfortunately, the actual reality of war is not addressed.…
Kelsie DeHaai & Matthew Huisman LAS-110 Dr. Lutch 8 December 2017 They Fought for Us, Why Can’t We Fight for Them? Take a moment to put yourself in a veteran’s shoes. Actually, take a moment to be thankful that you can even put shoes on, because unlike many veterans, you have two legs. Disabled veterans in America have received and still assume a fair amount of discrimination in their everyday lives.…
