My father told me, “I think to truly be an adult is to be sufficient on your own and to know that you are responsible for every decision you make. Growing up is knowing that your parents can’t get you out of a jam; you will have to deal with it yourself.” To be secure with the fact that you might have to deal with a situation all on your own, and be confidant that you can fix it. I think this is very mature and strong sign of adulthood. It is important for parents to let their kids make decisions at an early age so they learn from their experiences before they go into the real world. It is something that you have to believe in yourself to get through “Believe that life is worth living and your belief will create the fact. Be not afraid to live.” It is one thing to just hear this from someone, but to discover for yourself, where you are in the world and accept yourself without fear is something no one can replace. My final goals for my project concerning growing up are to be aware of who I am, to be stable on my own eventually, to depend on people I love, to love whoever I am and to be true to others of who I am. “This above all: to thine own self be true, and it must follow, as the night the day, thou canst not be false to any man.”-William Shakespeare.
