The protagonist of the story is Rick Grimes, and it is his goal throughout the show is protect his group of people from zombies, hunger, disease, and other humans. The common man knows them as zombies, but they are known as walkers in The Walking Dead. The walkers are grotesque creatures that live off of human flesh. Often in zombie shows, films, or book there is always that question, is a zombie still considered a human? The answer is usually no, because a zombie lacks a conscience. This is proven since their only purpose is a predetermined sense to kill. One could argue that there is some unnecessary violence in the show.
