It presents as a yellowish thickened appearance to the skin which is bumpy and covered with furrows. The condition is due to the accumulation of disordered elastic tissue in the upper and middle layers of the dermis, which are most susceptible to sun exposure. In this way solar elastosis is a biological indicator of the degree of ultraviolet-induced skin damage the individual has sustained, being a protective or compensatory response.…

It shines throughout the day and at night it goes down until the next day when it rises back up and gives us warm, soothing light. The sun is great unless you lay in the sun for too long because you can get sunburn. A tan is the skin’s response to UV light damage but still, many long for golden skin (“That Not So Healthy Glow”). Tanning is not an issue secluded to adults. Every year, 1.6 million American minors tan in tanning beds and of those who tan, more than half of them have tanned over ten times in that year (Tavernise A16). Even though there are large health risks, only 40 states have restrictions and only 11 of those states have full under-18 bans (Tavernise A16).…

This is occurring because of the harsh UV rays created by the sun that Australians simply can’t escape without the proper protection against it, this is why it is important that we know the proper treatment and preventions of skin cancer. Australia receives the highest UV ratings out of any other county in the world. High UV ratings is also secondly caused by the earth’s orbit, which when revolving the sun brings the southern hemisphere closer during summer then the northern…

Every year, millions of people lather on sunscreen, thinking it could protect them from skin damage and cancer. Every person is taught that the sun is the main reason for skin cancer. I started thinking a long time ago—if sunblock is to prevent skin cancer, why is the sun still to blame if we are adequately protected?
