In the 1950s, during a time of nuclear potential war, the Red Scare, and the Korean War, another factor between the United States’ and the Soviet Union’s rivalry was the Space Race. The Space Race was a strength and power competition between the United States and the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union launched Sputnik, an artificial satellite, which would orbit the earth in 1957 (History.com Staff np). Undoubtedly, the United States launched a counter rocket as a response to the Soviet Union’s display of power. Mars, albeit a prospering planet, is still not up to par with Earth. Life may have existed on Mars once upon a time, or Mars is in the process of providing for life sustainability. A major reason scientists believe life existed on Mars is the presence of water. However, there is absolutely no proof of intelligent life on any planet.
