In a broadcasted speech from Bush, he states that, “Iraq is a part of the war on terror. It’s a country that trains terrorists. It’s a country that could arm terrorists. Saddam Hussein and his weapons are a direct threat to this country.” He found a way to tricked the US citiziens into believing that Iraq was linked to 911 and that their country has weapon of mass distruction. “In the USA Today” article, it was stated that the United Nations didn’t find any. The United State basically invaded Iraq without the wishes of the UN. Even though it was found that they don’t have any Chemical or Biological weapon in their possession.
There were about five American News stations and Al Jazeera at the location reporting the news from the war to the war. The coverage of the war was being dominated by episodic battle coverage; because of this way of talking about the war, the most important aspect of the war ended up being over crowded by the periodic views of the war. To the American viewers, the war was sanitized of bloodshed, dissent, and diplomacy, but on the other hands, many things that were being displayed to the Americans included exciting weaponry, soldiers being heroes and colorful

It came to question because there were things that wasn’t adding up about this particular situation. For one, we can see reporters rushing past an advancing American tank with recording gear so the incident of the fall of Baghdad could be captured. We had declared war on terrorism shortly after the attacks which lead to our involvement in multiple wars in the Middle-East in an effort to eliminate terrorism and spread democracy to prevent terrorism. In Bush’s speech at West Point he says how our military must be ready at all times to put down terrorism wherever it pops up at a moment 's notice to defend our liberty (doc 3). After 9/11, the US wanted to prevent any future attack of the same kind and we would do so by building up our military to stop terrorism at it’s source, extremist groups. Along the way we also wanted to spread democracy to nations still under dictatorship, like Iraq, to prevent the fostering of terrorism. In Secretary of State Powell’s address in 2003 he says that the liberation of Iraq is a victory for freedom and has prevented future conflict and how a democracy will be put into place (doc 4).…

In 2009 the Associated Press took a chance after much deliberation to publish a Julie Jacobson photo of a United States Marine Lance Cpl. Joshua M. Bernard, after he had been injured; the soldier later succumb to his injuries and perished. The family of the deceit asked that the photo not be published but the A.P. went on with the publication despite criticism, and I believe publishing was the right choice. This decision of mine did not come instantly, when doing my research on the topic my initial thought was that they were wrong in publishing something if the family did not condone it, but after further thought I think it served a greater purpose; showing the American People the true gruesomeness behind the war in a tasteful manner. One…

As I searched the web to watch Live From Baghdad, I prepared myself for a boring and dry documentary. I had assumed this would be about current coverage of our Iraq War. The opening scene was a standard reenactment in my eyes, akin to America’s Most Wanted. It wasn’t until the faces of Michael Keaton and Paul Guilfoyle appeared on the screen that I realized I wasn’t watching a documentary at all.…

This week’s assigned readings were very informative. Three overall impressions that I got from reading the articles were that terrorists are using tactics that do not work, it will take an entire country coming together to produce preventative and responsive measures against terrorism, and that terrorists tend to portray themselves as decent people who are struggling to fight for a ‘good cause.’ Terrorists frame their agenda, struggle, and cause, as one that appeals to middle class and military aged individuals. This is the impression I had when watching the propaganda video from the PIRA (PoblachtachAontacht, 2012). Of course, appealing to a group of people is not always synonymous with achieving desired goals.…

It is very accurate and honest and precise to the writer knowledge like the Code of Ethic require of the journalist to do, but this article has a negative tone toward the Vietnam War by writing that the bombing of the Vietnam was a failure. As this article was written by someone in the Associated Press, it upholds the Code of Ethic of Journalism. The article was candid about the war and bombing. At this point of the Vietnam War America, a citizen was starting to want nothing to do with the Vietnam and just wanted the fighting and bloodshed to stop. The article brought up the point about the war like how the U.S. government says that they were not targeting civilian, but civilian location like a hospital was hit by accident.…

Nixon was fraught with turmoil; but despite the madness and chaos that were part of his presidential history, Nixon will go down as one of the most dedicated presidents of our country. At a time that America was in a state of disarray from being involved in three different wars since the beginning of the century, Nixon entered office with Vietnam fully engaged in warfare. His policy for the war was one that held promise; however Nixon’s ability to move forward with the policy became compromised by the politics. The press being allowed to broadcast the Vietnam War, the mental state of soldiers and when they returned from the war had a big impact on how U.S. citizens viewed the Vietnam War. It had a role that changed the outcome of the war so that America would eventually lose. The broadcasts were one of the main causes of the antiwar counterculture that formed in the United States during this time. Every day it showed the horrors of war in almost every home, causing some of the American citizens at home to lose support for the war and even treat the soldiers badly.…

Throughout Hollywood’s years they have come up with several war films, some of them very good and some of them very bad. What makes them good and bad depends on the group or individual watching it. Some people like to watch to see how we have evolved as a country and others look to see people die. Though some Hollywood producers provide an accurate depiction of war in an unbiased manner, several glorify war to the extent of romanticizing what should be a serious topic.…

“It was at that moment, America knew, they fucked up”. The Vietnam war was not just any ordinary war. To this day, there is still a lot of controversy over the United States’ involvement in the war overseas in a communist dominated country. There is definitely hatred and regret of the people that watched it all live in their homes; as well as the soldiers that went through the scarring experience themselves. It will be probably never be fully understood why America decided to take part in the war, yet one thing can be said for sure.…

The film was a ploy to try to convince the American people to support a war that was not popular with unpopular veterans. The politics that influenced the filmmakers in this film, were of those that try to recapture the image of America as the protector and the country to stop evil. This film was not able to accomplish any of this due to the fact that the public at this time was beginning to realize this war was not as clear as the movie tried to make it seem and that is was not as simple as a good versus evil fight. The movie also neglected to show the evils that the American soldiers were actually committing and this further alienated the people from the film and the idea behind the…
