Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one’s own death and is mostly caused by mental breakdown or illness. Today, thousands of people resort to ending their own lives to resolve their struggles in life. Although firearms are the most commonly used method of suicide, a large number of people have—many, successfully— attempted to end their lives leaping off of a bridge. On the Golden Gate Bridge—a famous American landmark—alone, suicides are now averaging to two a month. With that being said, I believe that a reconstruction to make the bridge suicide proof is beneficial for preserving both the lives of the residents and, also, the reputation of the bridge.
