The Death Penalty
As of July 28th of 2017, the death penalty has been used over 1,400 times since the year of 1973. This highly opinionated topic has gone back and forth between some of the most respected of people in intense debates. Whether you believe in the pros, or the cons of the situation, you can not argue with the facts.

In states where the death penalty is legal there have been many studies on if whether or not the crime rates have been reduced.”Deterrence and the death penalty do not support this idea, nor does the rate of murders in states with the death penalty”(Facts about Deterrents). It has been shown that the rates of crime in the states have stayed the same rate or even increased slightly compared to other states without it. This is untrue because of the fact that people pay more money in court costs than anything. With the high price of court time they can spend up to two million dollars on each case involving the penalty itself. ”Defending a death penalty case costs about four times as much as defending a case where the death penalty is not considered.” (Forbes Welcome). Hard workers do not think of that contribution when debating about this. Some people do not even think about where their money goes after their taxes get deducted out of their paycheck.
