The United States has a broad history as a nation, despite the fact that it is only around four hundred years old. Its history is filled with ideas from some of the greatest minds in the world but the United States did not start out that way. The United States was built through hardship and tragedy. One of the greatest tragedies to ever plague the United States was a conflict between the north and the south. This conflict is referred to as the Civil war and it has led to many debates in the early part of this century.
