For kids who have difficulty keeping their mouths open and body still, a captivating tv show is just what the doctor ordered. This method is not a well kept secret however, as parents all over the world have been using the tv on their kids at home. In a study to see how well mothers were able to restrict their children’s screen time, it stated that “ Limiting the time that children spend watching television is recommended for minimizing negative health outcomes such as increased adiposity and poorer psychosocial health and cognitive development” (qtd. in Hnatiuk, et al.). These children, who during the experiment are under the age of two, are becoming predisposed to adiposity (obesity) and other health-risks. It is recommended for mothers to keep their children away from the tv, yet for busy mothers, the tv is often the easiest method for them to watch their kids. The study found that most mothers had a hard time limiting their child’s screen time and if the child was difficult to handle, they were even more likely to give in to the convenience of television.
