It’s making an impact on the people around that really makes you individual. To be individual is to make other people lives different-in a good way. Stargirl does this by singing happy birthday, in front of everyone, to a random person she hadn’t met. Near the end of the book, the narrator goes into a shed in which Stargirl worked and found that she had a calendar of everyone in the whole school’s birthday marked, most likely to sing happy birthday to every one of them when it was their birthday.
