Standardized testing is used throughout the schools across America. These are tests in which each student is given a series of multiple choice or true or false questions to answer within a certain amount of time. This type of testing is used to compare each individual’s performance. Many people say that standardized testing is a good way of grading a student, because it eliminates any bias opinion to the work that is submitted. Millions of dollars are spent annually on tests, since thousands of graduate and undergraduate programs nation-wide require this in order to be accepted. Though, most students are required to take these tests, this does not showcase the individual’s knowledge.

This also creates a way of thinking that there is only a limited amount of options to choose from, that is either correct or incorrect, and that is not how real life situations run their course. In addition, standardized testing only portrays the performance of the student during that testing time, and not a full evaluation of the during the whole year.
