As a popular saying goes by, smoking is dangerous to your health. It is said that smoking a major problematic health issues around the world. Smoking leads to several of the most dangerous disease. Regardless of awareness that smoking damages health, people could not easily give up on smoking due to many reasons such as physical and mental addition, stress, and peer pressure. These practices raise a concern for public health, safety, and welfare since studies have shown that non-smokers who involuntarily exposed to tobacco smoke also experience the same health problems as active smokers (World Health Organization, 2015). His bones from his cheeks and shoulders protrude under his skin. His mouth is open, but he cannot respond to his mother, wife, or two-year-old daughter anymore. Doctors say there is no hope for Adam, a lung cancer patient. He started smoking when he was 13 years old and he never could imagine that 25 years later, smoking would take his life away, leaving his wife and child alone. “I cannot fight anymore”, Adam said to his mother on that cold rainy afternoon when his life was taken. Four hours later, Adam died diagnosed with lung cancer and liver cirrhosis. Stories like Adam’s are told every day because of this distasteful habit called smoking. Smoking is the inhalation of gases and hydrocarbon vapor generated by slowly burning tobacco in cigarettes. The chemicals in cigarettes and tobacco smoke make smoking harmful. Cigarette contains over 4,000 different chemicals, at least 50 are known to be carcinogens and many are poisonous (World Health Organization, 2015). In lieu with this, I believe that smoking should be prohibit in public place because of the following reasons; health risk, secondhand exposure, and the harmful impact it does to the environment.
