Arguments Against Technology

Two days ago at the mall my father saw a child that looked about five years old with an iPhone in his hands playing a game and told me “that kid does not need an iPhone”. In my opinion a five year old does not need an iPhone because at the age their brain is still developing and is more likely to absorb radiation which can have negative effects on the body. Technology has been slowly taking over our lives for the past twenty years. Now it is not necessarily technology’s fault, but it is our fault as humans for letting it take over our lives and that is why a person does not need a cell phone until they are about sixteen. Physicist Albert Einstein once stated, “It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity”. Einstein was completely correct and nowadays everybody has some type of device in their hand whether it be a two year old or a ninety year old. Parents give their children a tablet or phone just so they can have time for themselves which is not right because at that age children need to spend a lot …show more content…
Now my argument against that would be that a smart phone will distract that child while they should focused on homework. Instead of doing school work that child will have the urge to play games on their device. Another argument I have against that is it will take away family time from that child and there is a chance it can jeopardize that child’s development. “Parents and educators worry about over-stimulating a child who may want to spend hours on a smartphone rather than playing outside” (NQ Family Guardian). My last argument against cell phones being useful at a young age is that if that child goes on it every day they will never go outside or be involved in sports and at that age every child needs to exercise in order to stay healthy, maintain high self-esteem and a better overall

We as a society have become so dependent on our phones that without it we begin to feel lost and weak as if it’s a drug. Steve Cutt does a great job of depicting the true meaning of our society through these images or as he calls them the “sad truth“. The imagine that has caught my attention was the one that looked like the zombie apocalypse has taken over, except the zombies were actually us humans and our food supply are our phones (technology). My reaction to this image consisted of agreement and worry that we might actually be in big trouble if we continue to live a life where technology is our most important need rather than being happy with what we have. Instead we are becoming a consumer – driven society what always wants more of…

I believe that students should be allowed to have a cellphone fat certain times of the day for their own personal use. I feel if kids had their phones with them at school it could help them stay safe in multiple situations and could help them communicate with their family if they don't have an other methods to do so. In certain situations having a phone nearby for your use could be quite useful, in situations like lockdowns and such because of a hurricane, earthquake, etc. you could use the phone to communicate with your parents and inform them about what happened and tell them that you're okay and you could also use it to call for help in case of an emergency.…

To sum up kids should have their own cell phone, but they have to be at a certain age and responsible enough to have one. Nevertheless, one negative point I can think of with having a cell phone is that you get addicted to using it all the time, despite this you as a parent could set alarms or timers on your children´s smartphone so they have to give it to you after the alarm or timer goes off. if you are worried that your kids could visit a website that isn’t suited for them you could easily block the…
