Self-Driving Cars, are we there yet?
Technology is taking over everyday life, from the minute a person opens his/her eyes, to the time a person sleeps. Today’s society is gradually changing to that of convenience, which is largely built on the use of modern technology. For the past few years, there has been ongoing development in the idea of the self-driving car. In the article, “Self-Driving Cars Could Save 300,000 Lives Per Decade in America,” by Adrianne LaFrance, published in The Atlantic. Adrianne LaFrance indicates, “Researchers estimate that driverless cars could, by midcentury, reduce traffic fatalities by up to 90 percent.” Despite this information people are having mixed feelings about the self-driving car. Although, the self driving car or autonomous vehicle has advantages and disadvantages, it is an exciting innovation, which could near perfection via continuous monitoring and the human touch. …show more content…
For instance, the body of the car is the same. If cars are examined and how they have changed over time, technology is something that has been incorporated slowly through the years. From having live GPS Navigation, Bluetooth Enabled Technology, having sensors that indicate when a driver is too close to another car, backup cameras when reversing out of parking spots for safety, to having the ability to give basic responses and commands to our cars. Therefore, the progression of technology has been slow and subtle. Technology has always been an optional feature. Customers have the option of buying a vehicle with all the mentioned technology or not. Therefore, since the beginning of manufacturing cars until present day, the goal has always been trying to make cars more comfortable and less stressful to
