Argumentative Essay On Self-Driven Cars

My body jolted, my skin became hot, and my heartbeat skipped; once I realized what happened, my heart dropped. A few years ago, my dad hit a deer who wandered into the road on our way to a club soccer tournament in South Dakota. The accident, although small, scared me, but taught me how to be a safe and defensive driver.

Why couldn’t this be the case with computer driven cars? The self-driving cars have an interior designed for people to ride in, not drive. A possible emergency while the driver is thinking they are safe leads me to believe the cars are impractical. I speculate that Google thought of this and may have some kind of emergency brake, button, etc. that they did not list on their website, however, if I were to be in a driverless car on a long trip, I believed the vehicle to be completely safe, and trusted it enough to drive me to my destination, why wouldn’t I decide to sleep, do homework, be on my cell phone or tablet, watch a movie or something else distracting? Let’s face it, the reason we all idolize the idea of self-driving cars is so we can do other things that consume our busy day instead of spending the time commuting staring at a road and listening to the morning radio show. Relieving the burden of driving upon our everyday lives sounds heavenly, but

In the case of any accidents, lawyers could blame the car manufacturers for the way they "programmed morality into the machine." (Jun). We don’t sue trains when they hit human beings because trains cannot think like humans or have morality like humans. However, this article also explains the benefits of having a self-driving car that initially hooked in consumers because it sounded like the “right” means of transportation.…
