Some people believe that science fiction is merely for entertainment; others have no doubt it's a warning for what could be the future of mankind. However, it can been proven that science fiction has many serious purposes, including warnings of ‘utopian’ communities eliminating some of man kinds most important traits.
Science fiction is a fictional genre based on scientific and technological concepts. ‘The Giver,’ presents an originally utopian community where war, poverty, crime and suffering has been completely eliminated.
This is as the leaders made the community become of ‘Sameness’, which is where the citizens were indoctrinated into believing that they were all the same. However, by doing this, the community lost the freedom of choice and the significance of memory, which prevents past mistakes from occurring again. …show more content…
Future inhabitants of Earth need to be aware of this because uniqueness is the cause of many attributes. For example, if Albert Einstein didn’t exist in his unique ways then no one would be able to chill their food in such a versatile way in which they do today with a refrigerator.
If any such thing similar to that of ‘sameness’ ever existed in the past, people like Einstein never would have lived or have had the same creativity that made the technological advancements what they are today and 2018 could’ve been part of the stone age.
