Bullying is a serious problem in today's society. It is especially found in schools all around the world. To help stop this growing threat in modern society, Emily Gipson makes and posts a video called ‘’Welcome to Lebanon High School.” This video now has over 600,000 views. This article talks about this video and the argumentative state behind it. There is two sides about this controversial video. One side it talks about how wrong and rude this video is. And how harsh the words were being used in the video. On the other hand, some people like this video for its creativity ,and for its message. Also for Emily to take a stance. To support this in the text it states.”He has received feedback from …show more content…
But I also believe both sides are to blame. She needed to have a calm argument with the authorization of a higher figure. And the administration that runs the school need to handle the situation better; and be more sophisticated on their reason for her punishment. For example in her video there is harsh words she uses to get her point across. She could have easily got her point across by using higher vocabulary words. And she disregards the need for proof, you need proof to support anything. In the text it states, “Posters say ‘Smile’ and ‘Be Happy’ but how am i supposed to be happy in a world- no, in a community where creativity is punished because their no proof.” This point she makes cant be used due to the biased opinion about it. Also fo the lack of calm freedom of speech. And she did this “freedom’’ speech without telling a higher person of authority. About the school she goes to. In the text it states,” Welcome to Lebanon High School where smiles are fake and suicide prevention is a joke.” She not only pokes at the committee she didn't ask to post her poem, but her on school she also did not ask. Her punishment for this was fair but the reason she got it was incompetent on the school boards part. In the text it says the punishment was for, “Trying to entice violence.” This has nothing to do with the problem at hand. She made a restricted video on an authorized place, and she is promoting violence? This act by the board was very unprofessional and unsupported. IN the text it states, It hurt my feelings.” This was the evidence they used to determine the fate of Emily. So in conclusion, I respect her stance and side but her punishment was fair. But the school board didn't take any assentive on the subject at all. So both sides are to
