Technology has been advancing rapidly over the last decade and a half. Many improvements have been made to better the daily lives of humans. What many people don’t know, is that technology has improved life very close to home. Is it crazy to think that by logging on to an X-Box and playing Call of Duty would actually be helping with research going on each day? The article “Relationships and Technology” by Joseph Devito talks about how technology has made a huge impact on relationships of all sorts because of communication over the internet. “Interface Facts” by Katie Burke talks about how technology has brought humans and computers together. In “Relationships and Technology” (2008) many people have found communication to be easier through technology (332). 20 years ago, people would have to send letters to relatives or make special visits in order to talk to family and friends. These days, people are turning to the internet for various means of communication. (relationships, friendships, work related, etc.) The article also says that friend finders and websites like Facebook make communication faster and easier. (Devito 2008, 332) Now, think about huge corporate industries around the world. How do they communicate and compare sales, or market prices? With many of their businesses being in different places world-wide, there used to be no way to be in that many places at once.. Now there is. In “Interface Facts” (2012), the author says that technology has benefitted people worldwide because colleagues are able to collaborate without being in the same room. (Burke, 468) This has helped many companies expand and distribute services world wide because they don’t have the need to be in the same place as those they are selling to.
