To Harry Frankfurt,”Bullshit,” is a phenomenon that is often employed loosely, as a term for abuse, but it has no specific meaning. According to Merriam Webster’s dictionary, the word or term bullshit means nonsense or foolish insolent talk. Bullshit has many reasons for use and many of them are meant to deceive people. Nonsense or bullshit has always been a part of language, it does not matter what type of language it is or what subject like politics, or sports, bullshit will always be used.
Bullshit is also used as misrepresentation, people use it as misrepresentation as an impression of enhancing certain speech on a concept. It is, in fact, impossible for a single person to know every known fact that our species knows. In that case, if …show more content…
According to Merriam Webster, prejudice is,”An irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics.” Knowing how common it is to see prejudice take place in the world and at my school, it simply will not ever be stopped. Even though our teachers and other school leaders try to get everyone to be accepting, it just simply will not happen. Going back to how bullshit is connected to prejudice, In Martin Luther King Junior’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” He states,”Just as Socrates felt that it was necessary to create a tension in the mind so that individuals could rise from the bondage of myths and half truths to the unfettered realm of creative analysis and objective appraisal, so must we see the need for nonviolent gadflies to create the kind of tension in society that will help men rise from the dark depths of prejudice and racism to the majestic heights of understanding and brotherhood.” (King Junior, Page 35) King stated what my school wants, unification. Unification is prejudice’s enemy because many people lean toward wanting unity over being prejudice, but I still believe prejudice is far more common. Unification is therefore bullshit. Simply because it can not happen. Somewhere along every single person in my high school, no two people agree on exactly the same things whether they are regarding religion, politics, sports teams, etc. It is simply impossible, so why does our school try to promote something that can not be achieved? The answer is we are being bullshitted. The school may or may not know it, but they are misrepresenting us with information that is deceiving because it is something they want but can not
