Twelve years of basic math, english, and science does not teach students how to cure cancer or perform brain surgery; only extra schooling can teach these. In today's society, people believe post secondary education is overrated. Millennials believe that it is not necessary to attend post-secondary education because there are many different ways we can build careers. Self employment and small business is booming. Also, with the high cost of college students are frightened they can never leave this debt. Post-secondary education is important for today’s generation because it builds character, knowledge and the gain of real life experiences, but today's generation of millennials have a strong belief it is no longer needed; this attitude has

Education has an effect on our socioeconomic status. Paraphrasing Socioeconomic status ,or (SES), is measured often by a combination of income,education, and career. The American Psychological Association have done reasearch on american’s SES and how it affects them they have concluded a low SES correlates to poverty, crime ,and bad health,and a higher SES is vice versa. Most people with high SES have a higher education. (American Psychology Association)Studies on SES show higher education helps build better SES most the time. Better jobs helps our communities as well. Students getting degrees and building a business ”Today we see college degrees as investments that yield benefits only to individuals. But when the United States was founded, public officials promoted higher education because it mattered for the public. They strongly believed that by encouraging and subsidizing advanced learning, the nation would foster the knowledge, creativity, dynamism, leadership, and skills that would spur economic growth, technological innovation, and social advances.” (Mettler)Our ancestors knew what education did for them and this country;college boosted political ideas they studied in college that they used for founding this great country;Founding fathers such as Thomas jefferson, John Adams ,and James
