Improved Essays
The way people live and their culture is dependent on their geography and their resources. We humans are very dependent on the land and its resources. If those start disappearing due to us humans over using them, then we will not only loose our culture but many species of animal’s plants and eventually ourselves. Overpopulation can be debatable if it’s an issue or not an issue, but the evidence that supports that we as a species are stretching Earths resources to the brink. Humans have unlimited wants and Earth has limited resources, that being said as the Human population increases the demand for more resources increases. Humans as a whole have always been burning all sorts of materials as fuel; it was not until the Industrial Revolution …show more content…
And that is the power to change our destiny and to change the future. Through our actions right know in the present, not in the future or in the past but in the present. We are the care takers of this world and all of the creatures that live in it, we can use our intelligence and our vast wealth to make a meaning full life for every person in this world. Right know at this moment us humans use GMO’s (Genetically Modified Organisms) Which are very controversial, but if we are able to correctly use them we could make plentiful amounts of is food for everyone on this Earth. Or will we develop commercial space travel to other nearby planets for example many scientists say that mars might be able to be colonized. NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) is expecting to send a manned mission to Mars by 2030 that would be a great leap for mankind. Or will our technology to carefully balance the ecosystem and allow us to live with nature in harmony. What I mean by this is developing more “Green technologies.” An example would be the company Inhabitat, which is creating much more environment safe and friendly buildings. But the most effective and quickest way to reduce overpopulation is to set how many children a family can have. Like China has already done, currently the United States gives incentives to families who have more than one child, this is the problem. Education which has taught humanity how to think less ignorantly will also play a role, we should stop

Since the increase of human population is considered the root of our problems, then why not tackle the problem itself? Managing population can begin with the one-child policy adopted from China. According to All Girls Allowed (2013), “China’s One-Child Policy was formally instituted 30 plus years ago on September 25, 1980, in an open letter by the Chinese Communist Party”. The policy was proposed due to fact that birthrates were over four children per family, in addition to a shortage of food. This is why policies are implemented in order to reduce the overpopulation in these countries, such as China’s one-child policy. The one-child policy was created in 1980, when the government wanted to enforce family planning to avoid excess procreation. In 1798, Reverend Thomas Malthus said that the earth’s population would grow more quickly then we are able to produce resources, such as food (Dimick). He hypothesized that the population would grow geometrically, meaning it would double, while the amount of resources we have would only grow arithmetically (Dimick). What are the leading contributors to overpopulation and lack of resources, and what can country’s do specifically to fix the gap? Overpopulation is defined as “an undesirable condition where the number of existing human population exceeds the carrying capacity of the earth (Kukreja)”. A recent example is China, which has been experiencing overpopulation since the 1970’s. In 1979, the Chinese government actually began issuing methods, such as the “one child per family” policy, to help combat the issue. Even though many methods have been attempted since that time, none of them have had much success. China’s population today hangs at 1.2 billion citizens, which is nearly 21% of the entire population of Earth. China is an example of how quickly a country can become overpopulated and how difficult it is to combat the issue.…

America's growing population is becoming a serious dilemma, with the problems of not enough fossil fuels, food and space to keep everyone healthy and happy. Currently in America we have over 325,187,419 people and if we don't do something quick then we will not have enough room for people to live or enough food to eat (“U.S. Population (LIVE”). Many more problems will arise due to population growth, for instance many people will become homeless due to everything getting more efficient, especially with scientists creating more machines to do tasks for us. Most won't have enough jobs and many people will not be able to care for their families. Resources will run out sooner than later, not just in the United States but everywhere and what will we do.…
