In our country muslims face many hardships. It is often disputed on whether or not the government should intervene in religious matters, but to combat the hardships, the government has the authority and the obligation to help, There are also ways in which the government can help them in the schools, in the workplace, and in the general public. Many young Muslim children have to face the harsh reality of our country all too early in life. They wake up everyday afraid to walk the halls of school, because they may be targeted just because of who they chose to worship. A seventh grader “threatened to kill a 6th grade Muslim student he had called a “son of ISIS”’(CITE). This is unacceptable treatment towards a twelve year old boy, and sadly he is not the only one suffering. Unfortunately, “the process of blaming students of color for their own oppression” is a practice that is “long-standing” within our schooling institutions (Cite). This shows that there is a large problem that needs to be addressed. This shows how the great country of the United States may not be as great as previously thought. A Texas student, named Ahmed Mohamed, built a homemade clock with the skills he had learned and he took it to school to show his teacher his great creation. He was detained “after a teacher reported his clock as a threat” (CITE). Just because the young boy is Muslim, that does not give the teacher the right to discriminate against him and accuse him of making a bomb. It is instances like this one that make students afraid of going to school because they are being singled out. It has been said that he “had been victim of profiling because he is Muslim” (cite). This student suffered greatly, just because a teacher decided to profile him and his clock. It is instances like these that show the government should do something to help Muslims in the education
