Men are undoubtedly superior to their female counterparts. This is the belief of meninism, a term coined by modern society to distinguish the belief that the civil rights of men, are being infringed upon. The idea of feminism, the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes, is often challenged by this way of thinking. In several cases, feminists received severe backlash from supporters of a meninist cause. This debate between sexes, distinguishes while simultaneously unites the message being conveyed.
A major difference in these two platforms is the means in which they were created. Feminism began as early as 1848, as a result of the women’s suffrage movement in early America. Women began to take a stand for themselves and become politically involved. Through the early stages of feminism, women grounded the temperance movement and aided in the abolition of slavery. From these roots, women have been able to develop the mission towards a more equal and fair society. Meninism began from being left in the shadow of feminism. Under this account, sexist tweets have been displayed to the general public in which women are degraded or made fun of. This ideology is endorsed through merchandising. All to make a statement against feminism and support what the twitter account believes in. On the other hand, feminists contribute to the exposure by taking advantage of their time in the public eye. Figures like Emma Watson, Beyoncé, and Hillary Clinton all took a stand for feminism. They stated their positions through United Nations’ speeches, music, and during a Global Initiative
